The newsletter has reverted to being an all paper thing, so is no
longer available on this site. Announcements may still be made
through the mailing list, so please contact me.
if you want adding to the list. I hardly ever send out any emails so
you will not have you inbox stuffed as a result.
As ever we try to organise a fleet of aircraft to visit an airfield together during the summer. We have a fly-out page. If you are going somewhere and fancy having company, be it a passenger or another aircraft going along just add the details.
The MG Car Club South West are holding a T Party at Henstridge Airfield from 11 am. Strut members are invited to attend, and we would like to get a line up of aircraft to complement the car display. Entry is free to Strut members – remember to bring your membership card.
We have been very carefully weighing the pros and cons of moving the Barbecue At The Hangar to a Friday evening. But the two Monday ones we have done have been very successful. So on the principle that you should only change one thing at a time, we are leaving the July one on the 3rd Monday. The thing that is being changed is that the last take off time limit is being removed for this event. (Check on the day, please.)
The June BATH raised £50 for the air ambulance.
For the July event the educational theme will be the Skywatch Civil Air Patrol initiative, and we hope to do some evening flying as well. The barbecue will be lit at 1830 and maintained until sunset at 2113.
The Branscome Fly In has had to be cancelled. We don’t know all the details yet, but it seems to be down to some unpleasant actions from their neighbours. To fill the hole in the calendar and keep West Country aviation alive, we have formally challenged the Devon Strut to a Breakfast Patrol on this day. Details are still being worked out – talk to John Howe or Nick Long.
The Strut, in conjunction with both the airfield management and owner, is organising a flying day with CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia in Children ).
We are aiming to repeat the very successful day we had last year, giving patients, siblings and other family members short flights in the local area. We are looking for owners of four-seat aircraft (sorties will always be pilot plus at least one adult plus patient plus A.N Other) who are willing to participate. We also need marshallers/stewards for ground handling & passenger safety duties.
Geoff Jarvis is very kindly offering a compensation package for fuel used, so here is a chance to do something very worthwhile at very little cost. Last year we managed to fly a total of 130 people.
BBQ provided at no cost at lunchtime (thanks again, Geoff).
For further details, talk to Joe Williams.
News and event details are posted on
the website, but it is useful to be able to get late breaking news
and last minute info out to Strut members by email. At present,
though, we only have email addresses for roughly half the membership.
To help us get the list up to date, could every member please send a
short email to
me.
Put LIST in the subject line, and your name in the message. We have some
cases where we have an email address but don’t know whose it is, so
please don’t forget to put your name in the message body.
Phil Burton is promoting the Skywatch service. For more
information,
email me.
and I will pass the contact details across to Phil.

If you got here by putting "sex" into a search engine you are very sad and should go away now. If however you are interested in light aircraft and live in Dorset or Somerset then this could be the page for you. We are a friendly group of aircraft owners and builders based in this area. We hold a number of fly-ins and BBQs at local farm strips throughout the summer and have evening get-togethers once a month during the winter.
